It’s 2022. A new year. The perfect time to assess, wipe the slate clean and try to instill some much-needed improvements. While most people immediately think of hitting the gym after overindulging over the festive season. What else does one do between Christmas and New Year’s Eve anyway? One thing we can all agree on is that it’s a good thing to be more productive.
It’s easy enough to simply use Dragon to improve your general productivity. Using speech recognition software to boost the speed of your typing, create time-saving templates and shortcut commands to execute several things in one go has huge benefits. However, it’s one thing saying and another thing doing.
We often come across users who have fallen into bad habits. Simply typing in a word when you could say it. Not correcting when Dragon misrecognises a word. Letting junk creep into your vocabulary editor. Not keeping a healthy back up version of your user profile. Even correcting in a sloppy fashion can be detrimental to your voice profile over the long run.
These habits may seem inconsequential, maybe even painful when you have to backtrack. But they’re crucial to getting optimal results from your software. It’s very much a case of the old adage “a stitch in time saves nine”. Just think. You could add a client’s name before tackling a long document. This would mean every time you say their name it comes out correct. It takes a second or two.
Or, you could skip this and hope for the best or get sidetracked by having to switch to manual input in each instance. Doing the prep helps smooth your experience. Moreover, what you do to improve your profile stays. This means your next document with that client’s name will actually save you even more time and son on. The changes and updates you make to your profile will be there when you come back.
Put in the effort and you’ll reap the rewards. Don’t do a thing and you’ll be stuck where you left off… constantly fixing the same error. We know this has been a bit of a preach but the more people commit to taking caring of the small stuff, the less they have to sweat over the big picture when it comes to using speech recognition software like Dragon.
